Tokyo is home to many video game pop up shops, limited events, and themed collaborations that are difficult to keep track of. I often talk about many of them on my podcast, Tokyo Game Life, but I wanted to create a page to highlight limited time gaming events in Tokyo. Loft X Dragon Quest 40th Anniversary
To celebrate Dragon Quest's 40th anniversary, Shibuya Loft will sell special merch.

Legendary Pokemon Encounter: Legend Research in Nihonbashi and Yaesu
Several department stores around Nihonbashi and Yaesu like Mitsukoshi, COREDO, and Tokyo Midtown will host a Pokemon-themed mystery/puzzle-solving activity featuring over a hundred legendary Pokemon.

Shibuya Modi is hosting an exhibit centered around Pop'n Music, Konami's popular arcade franchise.

Japan Olympic Museum is hosting a Pokemon-themed exhibit about Olympic athletes and how they move.

NeCoLabo Cafe in Ikebukuro is hosting a special Katamari Damacy themed cafe.

Palworld Pop Up Shop
Shibuya Modi his hosting a Palworld pop up shop featuring merch from the hit game.

Katamari Damacy at Tokyo Tower
Tokyo Tower will host a Katamari Damacy themed activities along with a pop up shop.

Digimon Adventure Popup Shop
Entas in Akihabara will host a Digimon Adventure pop up shop themed after traditional Japanese culture.

Shimokitazawa Curry Festival with Puyo Puyo and Sonic
Sega mascots from Sonic and Puyo Puyo will appear at the Shimokitazawa Curry Festival. There will also be a special collaboration t-shirt on sale.

Sonic the Exhibition - Across Generations -
Ikebukuro Parco will host a Sonic the Hedgehog 35th anniversary exhibit featuring dev documents, new merch, and never before seen displays. Tickets for 10/9-11 are timed entry and are only available via lottery.

The World of Biohazard
BEAM Gallery in Shibuya will hold The World of Biohazard, a 30th anniversary exhibit about the Resident Evil franchise with interactive exhibits and exclusive merchandise.
October 30 - December 24
Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons Pop Up Shop
eeo Store in Ikebukuro will sell 30th anniversary goods for the Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons franchise.
October 31 - November 13
Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Exhibition
Tokyo National Museum in Ueno will host a special exhibition celebrating Final Fantasy's 40th anniversary.
January 8, 2027 - April 4, 2027
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Concert
Tokyo Garden Theater will host a special Zelda 40th anniversary concert featuring music from the franchise. Advanced tickets required.

Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi will host a special Kingdom Hearts 25th anniversary exhibit.
